Beside Myself and Out of My Mind To Take On The Mind Of Christ.

For years I searched the Scriptures to find out how God's Spirit, the Holy Spirit, was supernaturally controlling my thoughts and actions in prophecy, words of knowledge, writing, teaching, dreams, revelation, proof of doctrine and training in righteousness, which superseded my imperfect human thoughts and actions. When I found the answer, I discovered how forty plus writers and translators of the King James Version (KJV) could write exactly, word for word, jot and tittle, what God wanted them to write in all 66 canonical books of the KJV (1611 English Version). The KJV proved to be supernaturally protected to contain all of the jots and tittles spoken of by Jesus Christ. 

The answer to this phenomenon is once the servant of God surrenders his/her complete will to the Spirit of the Lord Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, the Lord at His Will and choosing at certain times causes His servant(s) to be beside themselves which in the Greek meaning to be out of their minds to Spiritually take on the Mind of Jesus Christ. The servants sometimes sense to even be out of their bodies in being beside themselves as explained in Mark 3:21; Acts 26:24; 2 Corinthians 5:13 and 1 Corinthians 2:16. The Greek words for beside are Existemi, meaning to throw out of position, displace to amaze, to astonish, throw into wonderment to be amazed, astounded to be out of one's mind, or beside one's self. The other Greek Word for besides in the Bible is Mainomai: meaning to be one who so speaks that he seems not to be in his right mind. 

Mark 3:21 ". . . And when his (Jesus) friends heard of it, they went out to lay hold on him: for they said, He is beside himself."

Acts 26:24 ". . . And as he thus spake for himself, Festus said with a loud voice, Paul, thou art beside thyself; much learning doth make thee mad . . "

2 Cor. 5:13 ". . . For whether we be beside ourselves, it is to God: or whether we be sober, it is for your cause.

1 Cor. 2:16 " For who hath known the mind of the Lord, that he may instruct him But we have the mind of Christ.

I have been beside myself many times to take on the Mind of Jesus Christ in my walk with the Lord over the past 39 years. Some notable times:

Ben Carson, at the 2013 National Prayer Breakfast in Washington DC, with Barach Obama present, spoke out about the evil of Political Correctness and subtle and not so subtle rebukes against some political decisions and policies, most in the audience and media knew that Barack Obama supported and oblivious to anyone conscious of public awareness. Without mentioning the specific program, Ben Carson spoke out against the personal political decisions of the Affordable Care Act (Obama Care) and several other issues. With a voice demeanor of great respect, admiration and awe, James Dobson an indulgent respecter of famous titled guest on his show, sheepishly asked Ben Carson where he ever got the courage, in front of thousands of people at the 2013 National Prayer breakfast and to his right the most powerful man in the world, Barack Obama, to say what he said. . .  

On Tuesday morning January 5, 2016, my wife Ruth and I were listening to Ben Carson, the famous brain surgeon and 2016 Presidential candidate, who was being interviewed by 79-year-old radio host, book author, past U.S. presidential family advisor, and Christian psychologist James Dobson, on his Christian radio program, "Family Talk". James Dobson asked Ben Carson the following questions, which are transcribed excerpts from part 2 of the 3 part series that was broadcast on January 4, 5, and 6[1]. Note the elapsed time of the online program recording to the left of the speaker's statement:

01:51 Dobson: "Describe your relationship with Christ today. "Does He continue to walk with you?" Has He led you to leave the university, to leave academia, and ah, umm, all, the whole medical community, and to do what you are doing now, and if so, why do you think so?"

02:11 Carson: "I would feel extremely vulnerable if I didn't feel He was right here by my side, (Beside myself ) every moment, and every step of the way . . ."

14:22 Dobson: "I mentioned earlier, the speech you gave at the Presidential Prayer Breakfast, in two thousand and thirteen. President Obama and, Michele Obama were sitting there, (uhh) to your right I think and to the other side was Vice President, Biden and what you were saying was very offensive to them. At least it contradicted just about everything that they have stood for. You stood up there in front of about three thousand people, cause I've been at that prayer breakfast many times, and you stood there and said things, that where you talk about not being P.C., politically correct, they were the opposite of that, and you didn't flinch. Where did you get the guts to do that in front of the most powerful man in the United States and in the world?"

15:16 Carson: "It came from the good Lord." I didn't know what I was going to say. I knew the Lord wanted me to say something because . . .

15:25 Dobson: "Specific . . ."

15:26Carson: "Specific! Because, when I got the invitation, my first question was, Lord, what are you up to . . . (chuckle) because I had spoken there seventeen years earlier and I didn't know anybody who did it twice, and then I found out, Billy Graham had done it twice. I knew I had some big shoes to fill and then I said, Lord, you obviously want me to say something, and I don't know what it is . . .

15:45 Dobson: "You spoke in 1997when Bill Clinton was President . . .

1549 Carson: "Correct! . . ."

15; 50 Dobson: "And that was the Monica Lewinsky era . . ."

15:51; Carson: Correct . . .

15:53 Dobson: "You spoke there and (chuckle) you waded into then . . ."

15:55 Carson: "I talked about integrity in office and he must have been saying, does he know? (Carson Dobson both laughing)"

1601 Carson: "He was very gracious. But any rate I didn't know what I was going to say until the morning of the Prayer breakfast, and when I had awakened that morning, I had a sense of calm and peace, and I knew exactly what I was going to say and when I got up there and started talking, I was totally oblivious to who was to my right or who was to my left. I was talking to the American people and I was in a zone. ( pause) Sometimes when I look back at it, and I just say, was that me?.."

 "Was That Me?" Ben Carson, when looking back in amazement when he spoke at the 2013 National Prayer breakfast knew in his mind that it was not just in his human intellect or nature to speak out and confront the poor decisions and policies of a man in the most powerful position in the world as President of the United States. "Was that me? Ben asked himself. Ben knew it was the Lord speaking through him but just could not identify how the Lord did it like the many times in his walk with the Lord when Ben knew it was the Lord involved in the many major decisions and actions in Ben's life.     

As soon as Ben Carson said, "was that me,", I turned to Ruth with a grin of knowledge on my face, as she was turning to me with the same grin of knowledge. We both smiled in agreement with the same thoughts retracted from the recesses of our memory and our past personal spiritual experiences, one of which, was when the power of God supernaturally took control of His servant, when I also said, "Is that me?" on Saturday, January 25, 1997 at about 10:30 am at a Messianic congregation in Owings Mills, Maryland. I did not know at that time, until many years later, the Biblical concept in the scriptures of being beside yourself explaining how God could control people and yes, even a jackass [2] to speak messages of warning, rebuking, teaching, correction and cause forty plus writers of the Holy Bible to write down exactly the commanding thoughts of God placed in their minds that justifies the Scripture verse in 2Timothy 3:16,17: ". . . All Scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness: That the man of God maybe perfect, thoroughly furnished unto all good works . . ."

Yes, on that Saturday morning on January 25, of 1997, the Lord Jesus Christ, by the power of His Holy Spirit caused me to be beside myself, supernaturally took control of my mind, voice, and physical parts of my body to not only deliver a prophetic message, but as a result of intensive biblical research of this prophecy, resulted in revealing a major disobedience and rebellion to the Word of God, not only by some of the men and women in this congregation, but for the whole Christian Church in America. To understand this supernatural event and how God chooses His servants to speak in His behalf, it is worthy to tell the story to show, how once the servant of God surrenders his will to God, how God's will supersedes the will of His servant(s), which is further confirmed by His already written word in 2Peter1:19-21: ". . . We have also a more sure word of prophecy; whereunto ye do well that ye take heed, as unto a light that shineth in a dark place, until the day dawn, and the day star arise in your hearts: Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the Scripture is of any private interpretation. For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost.

True Christian prophecy, preaching, teaching, admonishing and correction, comes not by man's will but comes by the will of God through His Holy Spirit with the intruding thought, "Is/was that me?" just after I either spoke a prophetic word, or acted in a manner against my human nature and desire of literal or figurative self-preservation in thought, word or deed, when I unknowingly was no longer in control of my faculties, but became beside myself when the Spirit of Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit took control of my thoughts words and physical actions. Jesus was accused of being beside Himself when He was publically preaching His messianic message of hope and salvation against the will of the Pharisees, who were looking for every opportunity to kill him if they had the chance, because His message contradicted many of their manmade traditions. Saintly Paul, the apostle, whose former name was Saul, before he had his personal conversion experience with Jesus Christ, was the 1st century equivalent of the Nazi Jew exterminator, Heinrich Himmler, who, instead of rounding up Jews to be shipped in box-cars for extermination in the gas chambers, rounded up hundreds, possibly thousands of Christians to be handed over for imprisonment and eventually put to death by the Roman government, also was accused of being beside himself in Acts 26:24, when Festus accused Paul of being beside himself (mad).          

The Holy Spirit of God caused Jesus Christ, Paul, and other servants, while being beside themselves/ourselves, to publicly preach the Kingdom of God, all along facing the danger of persecution and death from the Pharisees and other children of Satan who oppose God and His Word. 

Ruth knew the many times I discussed with her how the Holy Spirit took control of my mind, speech and even my physical self when He caused me to be beside myself for God to take control of the situation. To be continued
